Dr. Susan Woomer
DSW, LCSW, LCADC, CCS
Dr. Susan Woomer is a warm, relatable therapist who is passionate about helping individuals and couples feel more connected, confident, and emotionally well. She believes therapy should be a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where clients can be themselves while feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood.
With extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dr. Woomer specializes in supporting individuals navigating anxiety disorders, intrusive thoughts, intense emotions, chronic stress, and related concerns. She works collaboratively with clients to better understand the patterns contributing to distress while developing practical, effective coping strategies that promote meaningful and lasting change.
Dr. Woomer is also deeply passionate about couples counseling and relationship repair. Drawing from evidence-based approaches, including the Gottman Method, she helps couples better understand their relationship patterns, strengthen communication, navigate conflict, rebuild trust, and foster deeper emotional connection. Her approach creates space for both partners to feel heard and understood while working together toward a healthier relationship.
In addition, Dr. Woomer brings valuable experience supporting individuals in recovery, informed by her background working in inpatient and intensive treatment settings. She understands that recovery involves more than changing a behavior and works with clients to build coping skills, strengthen emotional wellness, and create a life that feels balanced and meaningful.
At the heart of Dr. Woomer’s work is the belief that therapy should feel human, collaborative, and grounded in approaches that work. She brings warmth and authenticity into the therapy room while helping clients develop greater insight, confidence, and skills they can carry into their everyday lives.
Outside of the therapy room, Dr. Woomer enjoys listening to country music, reading, spending time at the beach, and being with her husband, son, Boerboel Mastiff, and three guinea pigs.
Dr. Woomer is currently accepting new clients for virtual sessions throughout New Jersey.
