Zala Henry-Samuel LSW

Zala believes therapy should be a space where clients can show up as themselves without feeling defined by a diagnosis, their past, or the challenges that brought them to therapy. She views each client as the expert on their own life and works collaboratively to help them better understand their experiences, recognize patterns, and discover what meaningful change looks like for them.

Zala enjoys supporting teens ages 15 and older, adults, and couples who want to better understand themselves and improve the way they navigate emotions, relationships, and life challenges. Her approach is person-centered, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with treatment tailored to each client’s individual needs and goals.

Depending on each client’s needs, Zala incorporates a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and psychodynamic approaches.

Zala’s therapeutic style is supportive and compassionate while also transparent and willing to challenge clients when needed. She believes meaningful therapy can hold both acceptance and accountability creating space to process difficult emotions and experiences while also exploring how clients can use that insight to create change in their everyday lives.

Therapy with Zala may include practical coping strategies, reflection exercises, or between-session homeworkdesigned to help clients apply what they are learning outside of the therapy room. Her goal is for clients to leave therapy feeling not only heard and supported, but increasingly confident in their ability to make decisions, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change in their own lives.

Zala is passionate about continuing to grow as a clinician and expanding her knowledge of evidence-based practices. She is currently growing her skills in working with OCD and developing her knowledge of evidence-based OCD treatment. In her work with couples, Zala takes a Gottman-informed approach, helping partners better understand relationship patterns, strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and build greater connection.

Zala is currently accepting new clients and offers evening appointments both in-person at our Mount Laurel office and virtually throughout New Jersey. If you’re interested in seeing whether Zala may be a good fit for you individually or as a couple, we invite you to schedule a phone consultation to connect, ask questions, and learn more.
