LSW
Jess Nelson is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) who earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Edinboro University. Jess began her career working in substance use treatment, where she gained experience providing counseling, crisis intervention, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support individuals throughout the recovery process.
Jess is passionate about creating a calm, emotionally safe, and judgment-free environment where clients feel comfortable showing up authentically. She takes an empowering, strengths-based approach, helping clients recognize their existing strengths, build emotional resilience, and develop greater confidence in navigating life’s challenges.
Jess supports teens and adults of all ages navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, life transitions, addiction and recovery, impulsivity, eating disorders, and the uncertainty that can come with change. She has a particular interest in helping individuals manage unhelpful thought patterns, become more comfortable with vulnerability, and move through experiences that may have left them feeling stuck.
Jess is an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and is passionate about supporting clients navigating identity, trauma, and self-acceptance. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and incorporates trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and holistic approaches into her work. She recognizes that healing looks different for every person and tailors treatment to each client’s individual needs, experiences, and goals.
With her background in substance use treatment, Jess also brings a strong understanding of addiction and recovery, providing compassionate support without shame or judgment for individuals working toward meaningful and sustainable change.
Jess is committed to continuing to grow as a clinician and expanding her knowledge of evidence-based practices. She is currently working toward independent clinical licensure while expanding her knowledge of OCD and evidence-based OCD treatment, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
Jess currently offers in-person and virtual appointments, with weeknight and early Saturday availability.
